Shopian, September 24: As part of its ongoing public outreach efforts, Shopian Police on Thursday organised ‘Thana Diwas’ across all police establishments in the district to facilitate direct interaction with the public and address issues of public importance.
The programmes were presided over by the respective jurisdictional police officers and witnessed participation from public representatives, members of trade associations and other citizens from the respective areas.
During the interactions, participants raised various issues concerning their localities. The officers assured that genuine grievances pertaining to police matters would be addressed on priority, while issues falling under the jurisdiction of other departments would be taken up with the concerned authorities for appropriate redressal.
The officers also highlighted the need for collective efforts to combat drug abuse and narcotics trafficking. Participants were urged to share information regarding drug peddling with the Police and encourage young people to stay away from substance abuse.
Awareness was also created about the harmful impact of drug abuse on individuals, families and society at large.
‘Thana Diwas’ is a public outreach initiative aimed at strengthening police-public relations and providing a platform for regular interaction and timely resolution of public grievances.
