In the heart of Kashmir, Ashiq Sultan has emerged as a beacon of sportsmanship, representing India with pride in various disciplines. The 12th-grade student from Boys Higher Secondary School Zadibal, Srinagar, is not only a stellar athlete but also a passionate coach, mentor, and community contributor.


Ashiq Sultan's sporting journey began at the age of 11, taking a hiatus for five years before diving into championships that transformed his life. His dedication and versatility shine through as he excels in Cricket, Volleyball, Football, Kho Kho, Badminton, and many more. His commitment extends beyond the playing field, actively participating in quizzes and cultural events.


Having bagged numerous district championships and excelling at the state and national levels, Ashiq's prowess is exemplified by his 21 district championships, 19 state championships, and 12 national championships, where he clinched gold medals in various disciplines, including Taekwondo, Karate, Hapkido, and Pencak Silat.


The pinnacle of his achievements includes a gold medal at the International Taekwondo Championship, proudly representing India. Ashiq Sultan's martial arts skills are further highlighted by his status as a 1st Dan Black Belt in Karate, a Black Strip holder in Taekwondo, and a professional player in Pencak Silat.


Beyond the arena, Ashiq is making a lasting impact as a coach, running the Sultan Martial Arts Academy at Mir Syed Ahmad Sports Stadium, Hawal. He also served as a dedicated physical education teacher at Darul Iqra School and volunteers as the Sports Team Head at the Kashmir NGO, contributing to social, sports, and cultural events.


Additionally, Ashiq Sultan is a student of KEI, where he has honed life skills through workshops and experiences. His love for trekking has seen him become a professional trekker, currently undertaking an Adventures course in tourism.


In a candid reflection on his journey, Ashiq Sultan expresses gratitude and determination, stating, "I faced many challenges, but I never forgot why I started. Alhamdulillah, I am very happy, and, In Sha Allah, I will make my parents, my society, my loved ones, and my nation proud."


With ambitions to become a sports coach and transform his family's life, Ashiq Sultan continues to inspire the youth of Kashmir, embodying the spirit of resilience, passion, and dedication.
